History and Background
The national Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) was originally founded in 1948, and as of today has become the leading voice of the HR profession. SHRM provides educational and informational services, conferences and seminars, online tools and publications to more than 165,000 professional and student members throughout the world.
With nearly 400 members, the Seattle Chapter of SHRM is a dynamic and diverse association of human resource professionals. We are a local chapter of SHRM and affiliated with the Northwest Human Resource Management Association (NHRMA).
Seattle SHRM is proud to be a 100% Chapter, which means members from our entire chapter are required to be current members of SHRM national. By being a 100% Chapter, we are able to receive a higher level of benefits not made available to other chapters.
The Seattle Chapter of the Society of Human Resources Management’s mission is to “inspire and empower members to build organizational value through people.” We strive to provide unique member value, uphold fiscal stewardship and drive continuous improvement in all operations. Our goal is to serve the needs of HR professionals in our community and provide the most fundamental and comprehensive resources to our members. The Seattle Chapter seeks to ensure that the Human Resources field is recognized as a necessary partner in developing and executing organizational strategy.
