Bea Hughes
President
Bea Hughes has over 20 years of Human Resources experience, primarily in the public sector. She is currently Vice President of Human Resources at Bellevue Community College, where she is a member of the President’s Staff and has responsibility for the broad range of human resources services and other campus-wide initiatives. The college’s commitment to pluralism, equity and inclusion, as well as the academic environment, attracted her to the College. Prior to Bellevue Community College, she worked as interim HR Officer, Personnel Manager, Executive Assistant and a variety of other HR positions at Seattle City Light, where she either managed or directly provided the full range of HR services. Private sector experience includes a municipal bond firm and magazine publisher in Denver, Colorado, where she was raised.
Bea received her MPA from the University of Washington’s Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs in 2006 and holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado. She holds SPHR and GPHR certifications.
Bea has a strong passion for Human Resources, values pluralism, inclusion, and continual learning and believes that change in organizations or cultures begins with each individual. Each of us has the ability to positively impact our environment. Bea has a strong commitment to the HR profession and believes that Seattle SHRM provides community value and professional and personal enrichment for its members.

Karen Fenstermacher
President Elect
Karen Fenstermacher is a human resources professional with more than fifteen years experience. Karen has an extensive recruiting background in both corporate and contract search consulting.
Karen founded and actively manages NorthWest Recruiting Professionals (NWRPros), a team of scientific and technical recruiters for non-profit charitable foundations and the life sciences and software industries. Clients include: The Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation, ICOS, Seattle Genetics, PATH, Sonus Pharmaceuticals and Cardiac Science. On the technical side, projects include Yahoo!, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Online Entertainment, Disney Internet Group, InfoSpace Mobile, Search & Directory, Expedia and Experience Music Project.
Prior to her current focus on recruiting, Karen spent most of her career as a Human Resources Director for companies including Analytical Software, Bullocks Federated Department Stores, and The Carson Companies. She was also a consultant at Paramount Pictures. Karen has been very active in SHRM leadership since the mid-90’s and has held multiple Board positions. She graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a Master’s degree in Business and has a B.A. in General Studies from Ambassador University, Pasadena, California.

Trehia Quast
Past President
Trehia shares nine years of HR experience with Seattle SHRM. She is currently the Northwest Regional Field HR Manager for Panda Restaurant Group. Prior to this, she worked as Human Resource Manager for a Seattle-based credit union and dedicated time to the Domestic Violence Unit at the Seattle City Attorney’s Office and the University of Washington’s Athletic Department. Trehia holds two degrees from the University of Washington and SPHR certification through HRCI. She enjoys theatre, traveling, and spending time with her two dogs, Carter and Lucy.

Cheryl Ferguson

Cheryl is the Recruitment and Business Development Partner for Decision Toolbox (http://www.dtoolbox.com/), a Recruitment Process Outsourcing company with a nationwide list of clients ranging from small businesses to the Fortune 500.
Cheryl has spent over ten years in the staffing industry and enjoys meeting, knowing and connecting many different kinds of people who occupy distinct worlds. Her articles on interviewing, networking, and negotiating have appeared on Yahoo! HotJobs and About.com. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, dancing, and hiking.

Beth Brasher
Secretary
Beth is a Human Resource professional with 10 years of experience. She is currently a Human Resource Generalist with Boeing supporting engineers for major commercial airplanes including the 787. Beth enjoys the relationships she has been able to foster not only with her business partners but also with her peers lending knowledge and support specifically in the areas of staffing and employee relations.
Beth has spent the majority of her career at Boeing recruiting for programs such as World Headquarters, Missile Defense Systems and Future Combat Systems. Prior to Boeing, Beth worked for staffing firms such as Analytical Software and BEST Consulting as well recruited for the engineering firm Harris. Beth holds a bachelors degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations from Winona State University in Winona, MN.

Kathryn Reniewicki
VP - Sponsorship and Chapter Services
Kathryn joins the Seattle SHRM Board with over 10 years of experience in HR, a master’s degree and PHR certification. She is currently the Director of Human Resources for Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum (EMP|SFM); a place she enjoys immensely! She is very excited about where Seattle SHRM is headed and proud to be a part of its current progress. Kathryn enjoys spending her free time outdoors skiing and hiking but also enjoys the indoor pleasures of music, film, food and wine.

Erskine Fred
Student Chapter Liaison
Prior to joining us Erskine was a member of the US Navy for 11 years where he worked as a supervisor and trainer for four avionics work centers. Erskine is an Aircraft Electrician and Aircraft Weapons Specialist by trade. During his military career, he traveled to eight countries and lived in Japan for 2 ½ years. While in Japan, Erskine taught himself Japanese and developed a high degree of cultural competency. He left the military to attend the University of Washington and now holds a degree in Psychology (a first for his family). He chose to pursue a career in Human Resources because of his ability to coach, train, and handle conflict.
Originally from Washington, DC, Erskine is a “dawg” who doesn’t mind the rain. He divides his free time between family, Madden, golf, and reading.

Frances Dujon-Reynolds
Legislative Director
Frances has been the Human Resources Director at the Washington State Bar Association since October 2005. She moved to Washington State from Wisconsin where she was the Human Resources Director at Winnebago Mental Health Institute in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for 5 years before moving to Salem Oregon in 2005 to take a position with the Department of Human Services as the Recruitment and Retention Manager.
Frances’ previous experience was primarily in the healthcare industry and it includes human resources administration, staff development, training, facilitation, internal investigations into patient abuse and rights violations and working with people with developmental disabilities. Frances has served on a Board for a non-profit agency providing services to people with developmental disabilities. She also served three years on the City of Oshkosh Human Relations Council which mediated disputes and advocated against discriminatory practices in the community.
Frances has a M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a B.A. in Psychology from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. Frances is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. She grew up in Jamaica and continues to visit her family there regularly. She spent the last 20 years in Wisconsin before moving to the Pacific Northwest. Her interests include biking, hiking, cooking and reading.

Bernadette Compton
Foundations Director
Bernadette Compton is a Human Resources Manager at Restaurants Unlimited, where she is responsible for compliance, employee relations and metrics. Prior to joining RUI, she worked for an education loan company and internet retailer. She has her PHR certification and Bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead. In her free time she enjoys volunteering, traveling and outdoor activities such as skiing and golfing.

Tammy Pitre
Diversity Director
Tammy Pitre has over 18 years of experience in human resources with a major focus on diversity and recruitment. She currently heads up the Washington State Department of Personnel’s Outreach and Diversity Recruitment Team.
Prior to coming to the Department of Personnel, Tammy was housed with the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce as the King County Business Liaison for nine years as part of a Public/Private Partnership with the Chamber and Washington State Employment Security Department. She served as the liaison between job seekers and corporate employers within King County. In addition she was the states contact for the Department of Labor's Business Relations Group.
Tammy is on a number of human resources boards in addition to SHRM to include: Chair of the Puget Sound Diversity Taskforce and Board member to the Washington State Business Leadership Network to name a few, with a strong passion for the Pacific Northwest’s vast diverse population she is thrilled to fill this role.

Laura Spies
VP - Communication
Laura Spies joined KCTS in June 2006 as Executive Director of Human Resources. She is responsible for leading initiatives in employee development and performance management, recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiations, and ensuring compliance with labor and employment laws.
With significant Human Resources management and strategic business planning, Laura has over 20 years of experience in a variety of settings. In Seattle, she has worked as the Manager of Lawyer Personnel at Perkins Coie, HR Director at Mithun Architecture, HR Director and Executive at Ivey Imaging and Consultant with Waldron and Company. Her accomplishments include starting an HR department, creating benchmark employee surveys and utilizing results, implementing performance appraisal programs, Attorney, staff and Executive Search, and leading HR in business acquisitions.
Laura started her career as a legal assistant in labor and employment law and expanded on that experience to become an HR professional in large international law firms, first at Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP in Kansas City, Missouri, and later at Perkins Coie in Seattle. She is a graduate of Saint Mary College in Leavenworth, Kansas, where she double majored in Business and History. Laura has also held certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) since 2001.
Laura lives with her daughters and husband on Bainbridge Island. She enjoys attending her daughters’ sports and music events and assisting her husband with landscaping and home renovations.

Hallie Warnock
Editorial Director
Hallie is currently the HR Manager for HL2, a local advertising agency with locations in both Seattle and the Orange County. She has 5 years combined experience in management and human resources, and holds her PHR certification through HRCI. Originally from Idaho, Hallie graduated from the U of I with a degree in Management and Human Resources and a minor in Writing. In her spare time, Hallie enjoys reading, traveling, running, and hiking.

Kitty Kitnikone
VP - Membership
Kitty Kitnikone has 12 years experience in Employment Services, Career Advising/Consulting, Customer Services and Human Resources field. She also has had 7 years in Mental Health Counseling. She possesses Master and Bachelor Degreed in Social Work plus Professional Human Resource Courses Completion Certification. She is currently a Business Liaison for WorkSource Seattle-King County and prior to this position she was a Business Relation Consultant and housed at the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce as part of a Public/Private Partnership with the Chamber and Washington State Employment Security Department.
She is current member of: National Association of Asian American Professional, Seattle Chapter; Professional Women of Color Network, Seattle Chapter, present member; Puget Sound Diversity Taskforce Board member & Live Resume Coordinator. She was a former President and President Elect of Puget Sound Career Development Association. Former member of: Mature Workers Alliance Resource and Job Fair’s planning committee, Human Service Coalition’s Employment Council and board member of Refugee Women's Alliance.
Her special talents are the ability to see big picture, possess both analytical and critical thinking skills, and is knowledgeable and experienced in working with diverse population. She believes everyone has special talents and unique skills to offer. She enjoys traveling oversea and believes in personal and professional development.

Danielle Davis
Public Relations Director
Danielle offers SHRM the marketing and business development skills she has gained during a 14 year career. Commitment, honestly and longevity are the cornerstones of her work ethic. As an Account Manager with Chameleon Technologies (www.chameleontechinc.com) she focuses on developing personal, long lasting relationships with all of her clients and candidates. Chameleon Technologies is a technical staffing and professional services company, offering both full-time and contract placement in the Northwest area.
Danielle’s previous business development experience included 3 years with Parker Staffing Services and 11 years with Symetra Financial (formally Safeco Life & Investments) within the marketing division.
Danielle grew up in Bellingham, Washington, but has spent most of her life in the Seattle area. Keeping her eye on the end result has garnered her success not only in business but in training for figure competitions. She enjoys laughing with her husband, wrestling with her son, and playing dress up with her 2 daughters.

Luann Linn
Student Chapter Liaison
Luann is an Employee Benefits Consultant at Kibble & Prentice, a leading financial services firm servicing the greater Puget Sound region. She holds a B.A. from the University of Washington. Prior to returning to school she was a successful business owner for 13 years. While studying for her degree she was member of the University of Washington's SHRM Student Chapter and served on the board as the Director of Career Development. During her senior year she chaired the 9 member board tasked with hosting the Area V NHRMA/SHRM Regional Conference, an annual event held on campuses throughout the country to promote the field of human resources and encourage students to take the PHR exam. The SHRM Games were highly successful and brought the University of Washington's Human Resource program to the forefront. The event was cohosted by the University of Washington, Microsoft and Seattle SHRM. She was raised overseas and enjoys traveling to exotic places with warm sandy beaches.

Kristina Hayek
VP - Programs
Kristina has been in the Human Resources and Training arena for over 16 years. Currently, she is Senior Human Resources Consultant for All Things HR where she provides consulting services in human resources, recruiting and training. Prior to this, she worked for both public and private organizations in such roles as: Director of HR, Director of a College off-site campus, Recruiting Manager, Professional Search Manager, District Trainer and Senior Recruiter.
Kristina also teaches the Staffing course within the HR Certificate Program for the University of Washington Extension and Human Resources courses for Bellevue Community College. She has both her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Masters in Managing HR and Training from Seattle University and her PHR certification through HRCI. Kristina enjoys baking, creating crafts, traveling and other fun activities with her daughters.

Jennifer Dupper
SIG and Careers Director
Jennifer began her human resources career more than three years ago as a direct hire recruiter for a premier Seattle staffing and recruiting company, Parker Staffing Services. The experience and knowledge she gained in that role made for an easy transition into the role of corporate recruiter for Parker, where she drives a very successful recruiting program. Jennifer earned her PHR certification in May 2007 and is applying that education as a vital member of Parker’s Organizational Development Committee and in driving HR initiatives to support the corporate goals.
Jennifer served as the chairperson for the Seattle SHRM Recruiting Special Interest Group in 2007, which prepared her for her current role as SIG and Careers Director. She plans to apply her passion for networking and connecting with people to expanding the special interest group program and the Seattle SHRM Careers system. Jennifer is excited to connect with the Seattle SHRM members and work together to increase involvement in its programs.

Michael van der Velden
Arrangements Director
Michael is a Vice President in the Retirement Plan Services division of Kibble & Prentice. He brings with him more than 20 years of experience in investment management and retirement plan services. He is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) and a Registered Investment Advisor.
Before joining Kibble & Prentice, Mike served as a Vice President for a regional retirement plan services firm that administered over $1 billion in retirement plan assets. He has served on industry advisory boards and is a frequent speaker for retirement plan continuing education seminars.
Michael earned his degree in Finance and Business Economics from the University of Notre Dame. He holds NASD Series 6, 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses, and he is a licensed broker/dealer principal.

Moselle Horiuchi
Certifications Director
Moselle has been in the Human Resources profession for 20 years. Her current passion is the non-profit sector where she is currently the Human Resources Director for HealthPoint and prior to that with Plymouth Housing Group for 6 years. Before her switch to non-profit she was with Yuen Lui Studios for 12 years where her responsibilities included managing the corporate offices, payroll & human resources. During this time she decided to pursue a career focusing on human resources and earned her MBA with a focus on human resources. Moselle currently leads Seattle SHRM’s Non-Profit Human Resources Special Interest Group (SIG), a role she has held since 2000. She gets satisfaction from her work by seeing growth and development taking place with employees as well as with her employer. Moselle enjoys mountain climbing and practicing the martial art of Kendo which she has earned the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt.
